Twitter tightens security for accounts of politicians and journalists

Twitter is tightening the security of high-profile accounts of politicians, presidential campaigns and journalists ahead of the US presidential election on 3rd of November.

Twitter will be implementing more authentic systems to detect any suspicious activity as a critical preventative step to make the accounts safe during the 2020 US election. The defenses are intended to secure the accounts from the hackers as  in July they took over dozens of high-profile Twitter accounts with an attack that deceived even the Twitter employees about the origin of the messages.

Twitter will encourage the accounts to set up two-factor authentication and to use strong passwords along with confirmation by email or phone number to reset the passwords.
