TVS Motor Company has made a comeback to the 125 cc segment and has launched the Raider 125 sports commuter. The new TVS Raider 125 is priced from ₹ 77,500 (ex-showroom) onwards. The new sports commuter promises to be a fun little option for young buyers while offering the practicality of its rivals. In fact, TVS says that about 39 per cent of its customers are young buyers across segments, not just in India but globally too. The new Raider is built on a new global platform and will be sold in India, SAARC nations and even the Latin American markets.

The TVS Raider 125 gets a mix of sporty and commuter in its looks. The design highlight is the new LED headlamp with the DRL that looks quirky. The model also gets the muscular-looking fuel tank with shrouds at the side and an engine guard. The split seats promise comfort, while a chunky single-piece grab rail serves the purpose at the rear. The bike gets nicely styled LED taillights and 17-inch alloy wheels. The Raider 125 gets three colour options – yellow, red and black.

The TVS Raider 125 also comes with a fully digital console that packs a host of information including three trip meters, distance to empty indicator, Integrated Starter Generator indicator, gear-shift indicator and average speed recorder. The bike also gets a side-stand cut-off switch as a safety feature, apart from other tell-tale lights.

In terms of power, the TVS Raider uses the 124.8 cc single-cylinder, 3-valve engine that churns out 11.2 bhp at 7500 rpm and 11.2 Nm of peak torque at 6000 rpm. The motor is paired with a 5-speed gearbox. The bike also comes with two riding modes – Eco and Power – with the latter offering about 10 per cent more power at the top-end of the power band.

The bike gets telescopic forks at the front and a monoshock at the rear, while braking performance comes from a disc and drum brake set-up. The base variant only gets drum brakes at either end. The bike comes with Combi Braking as standard. The TVS Raider 125 takes on a host of 125 cc offerings including the Honda CB Shine, Shine SP 125, Hero Glamour, Bajaj Pulsar 125, NS 125 and the likes.
