Thailand Prime Minister Refuses to Resign; Declare Emergency

Bangkok: Thailand Prime Minister Prayuth Chan-ocha had refused the call for resignation by the protesters and declared emergency state for the capital on Thursday. The protest led by students and activists started in Mid-July, have been going on continuously for more than three months demanding the resignation of Prime Minister, amendment of constitution and reforms to King Maha Vajiralongkorn’s monarchy.

In slite severe rain, the protesters gathered in a different part of the city and rallied in the capital for a second day against the state of emergency. Protesters have vowed to gather again as the police closed roads and put up barricades around a major Bangkok intersection. The petition website ‘Change.org’ was also blocked by the government as a petition against the King started trending in internet.
