Shocking Report: 470,000 newborns were Killed by Air Pollution in 2019

According to a State of Global Air 2020 study air pollution has killed 470,000 newborns in 2019. The report was released by Health Effects Institute (HEI) and the Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation’s Global Burden of Disease.

The data reveals that more than 116,000 infants in India and 236,000 infants in sub-Saharan Africa were died in the first month of life due to air pollution and two-thirds of the deaths was caused by toxic fumes from cooking fuels.
