Senior Kerala Congress leader C. F. Thomas passed away


Kottayam : Senior Kerala Congress leader C. F. Thomas (81) passed away today morning in Thiruvalla. He was an elected MLA from Changanacherry in consecutive 9 terms as a Congress candidate. He was in under treatment of cancer and the condition worsened last days.

Before he became a member of the Legislative Assembly, he served as a teacher in S.B. School, Changanacherry. He was a continuous companion of Kerala Congress.

He began his political career when he joined the Indian National Congress in 1956 and later he joined the Kerala Congress on its formation in 1964. He was lected to KLA in 1980. He was elected to Kerala Legislative Assembly nine consecutive times in 1980, 1982, 1987, 1991, 1996, 2001, 2006, 2011 and 2016.

He held the portfolios for Registration, Rural Development, Khadi and Village Industries in previous UDF government. He has only worked as General Secretary and Chairman of Kerala Congress (M).
