Rajasthan Phone Tapping Case; FIR Against 2 Journalists

Jaipur: In the controversial Phone Tapping Case, the Rajasthan Police has filed FIR against two senior journalists for reporting the Sachin Pilot camp’s accusation against Ashok Gehlot-led government of tapping the phones of Congress MLAs in August. Journalists have been charged with spreading false or unconfirmed news and conspiracy.

Jaipur’s Vidhayak Puri police station lodged FIR against Lokendra Singh, the Media Manager of former deputy chief minister Sachin Pilot and Sharat Kumar, senior journalist of Aaj Tak news channel under Sections 505 (1), 505 (2), 120 B of the IPC and section 76 of the IT Act.

Responding to the summons of police, Sarath Kumar said that only one channel is being targeted, when all the news channels broadcasted the news that day. Earlier, police had denied the allegations of the Pilot camp that the phones of some lawmakers stayed at a hotel in Jaisalmer had been tapped with the help of some state police officials.
