As the nation waits for the general election on October 17, a new opinion poll by 1 News Colmar Brunton indicates that New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern may win a second term in the office.
The Poll displays public support of 48 percent for Ardern’s liberal Labour Party while 31 percent for the conservative National Party, led by opposition leader Judith Collins. Ardern was preferred as Prime Minister by 54 percent in the poll, when Collins got the support of 18 percent.
Ardern is securing a high place in opinion polls as she led the country through one of the world’s strictest lockdowns and achieved success in eliminating community transmission of the coronavirus.
Her responsible and active leadership grabbed the world’s attention last year when she had to deal with the horrific attack on two Christchurch mosques, in which 51 worshippers were massacred.
