People from other states in India can buy land in Jammu and Kashmir

Srinagar: After one year of the revoke of Kashmir’s special status, the Central government has announced a new law that will allow people from other states in India to buy land in Jammu and Kashmir. Once the law comes into force, there will be no impediment to the purchase of non-agricultural land.

Officials confirmed that the amendment will not allow conversion of agricultural land for non-agricultural purposes. But the law have exemptions that allow the transfer of agricultural land for non-agricultural purposes for the establishment of educational institutions and hospitals.
