Negotiation meeting with the farmers’ organizations failed

New Delhi: The negotiation meeting held in Delhi between the Central Government and the farmers’ organizations failed to produce any result. The leaders of 29 farmers’ organizations confirmed that the strike would continue.

The meeting was boycotted the negotiation talks because of the absence of Union Agriculture Minister, Narendra Singh Tomar.  Agriculture Secretary, Sanjay Aggarwal attended the meeting on the behalf of government.

The meeting was arranged as Sanjay Agarwal invited All India Kisan Sangharsh Coordination Committee (AIKSCC) for negotiation talks. “We came for the meeting because we did not want to give the impression that farmers are not open to dialogue. But we also want to meet the Prime Minister and the Agriculture Minister,” said Dr Darshan Pal, the farmers’ representative.
