Kerala Law Academy holds one Day International Conference on Maritime Law

Kerala Law Academy Law College in association with the Centre for Advanced Legal Studies and Research (CALSAR) conducted a One Day International Conference on Emerging Significance of Maritime Law in the Indian and International Arena virtually on 3rd July 2021 at Kerala Law Academy Law College, Thiruvananthapuram under the guidance of Adv. Nagaraj Narayanan, Director and Prof. Hareendran K. Principal.

The conference focused on understanding different challenges faced by the Indian Legal system in dealing with the shortfalls of the Indian Maritime law and the short term and long term changes that are required in our Maritime policy. It was a platform to share ideas and thoughts by prominent speakers and experts.

Prof. Proshanto K. Mukherjee (Professor of Law, Dalian Maritime University, Professor Emeritus and Ex Vise President (Research), World Maritime University Chancellor, CINEC, Colombo) gave the inaugural address, , Prof. (Dr.) V. Balakista Reddy (Professor of International Law and Registrar, Head, Centre for Aerospace and Defence Law (CADL). Head, Centre for Tribal and Land Rights (CTLR) and Course Director, ,L.L.M. International Trade Law (ITL) NALSAR University of Law) was the keynote speaker and Smt. Priya M. K. (Assistant Professor, Kerala Law Academy) proposed the vote of thanks.

Eminent speakers like Adv.Joy Thattil (Managing Partner, Callidus Legal Advocates, Consultants and Notary) who highlighted the importance of International Maritime Law and its Basic Four pillars in the first session & Adv. V. M. Syam Kumar (Advocate High Court and Research Scholar at School of Legal Studies CUSAT), Adv. Hari Narayanan (Partner, United Maritime Law Chambers), Capt. Kunal Narayan Uniy (Co-Founder & CEO International Maritime, Business Academy (IMBA)) and Dr. N. K. Jayakumar Advisor (Law) of Chief Minister of Kerala. Former Vice-Chancellor NUALS, Kochi & Member, Executive Committee Kerala Law Academy) made the sessions comprehensive and sensible.
