In first phase, 30 crore Indians will be vaccinated

In the first phase of the Covid-19 vaccination, 30 crore Indians will be vaccinated in India. Union finance ministry has said that centre will be spending about Rs 10,000 crore for the first phase vaccination.

The priority list was prepared by the National Expert Group on Vaccines (NEGVAC) and included 30 crore Indians in the first phase vaccination. The three vaccines developed by Pfizer, Bharat Biotech and Serum Institute of India (SII) are on trial phase. So Covishield vaccine developed by Oxford and AstraZeneca along with Serum Institute of India will be used in the first phase.
The vaccine is estimated to cost about Rs 250 per dose and the SII is expecting to stock 500 million doses of the Covid-19 vaccine till March 2021.
