Debit, credit card details, phone numbers of 70 lakh Indians leaked


A shocking report has revealed that the credit and debit card details of 70 lakh Indians have been leaked on the dark web. According to cybersecurity researcher, Rajshekhar Rajahria the dark web has exposed users’ information from the year 2010 to 2019.

The security breach is risky in nature as the users’ personal contact details can be used for phishing or other attacks. The confidential data like credit and debit cardholders’ names, phone numbers, income details have been leaked from India. The data also consist information about users’ mobile alerts and their PAN Card details.

“I think someone sold this data/link on the dark web and later it became public. Financial data is the most expensive data on the Internet,” Rajshekhar said. In november also the data of online grocery store BigBasket users have been accessed by hackers and exposed on the dark web. Later that data was put on sale for around Rs 30 lakh by a hacker.
