In a study at Harvard University, it is found that DNA can be used as a storage material for digital data. It is a breakthrough in the study of data storage. The team of researchers used DNA as a storing material as it is a very powerful storage material that can store a large volume of information over a span of thousands of years.

The researches said that they were able to encode music from the Super Mario Brothers game into 12 synthetics strands of DNA and play it back on the computer using the photolithographic approach.
